Shawn is a licensed Professional Engineer, Class A Contractor and President of Crossroad Custom Builders, Inc.  Shawn earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University.  Over the years, Shawn has built a significant number of new custom homes and completed many more home additions and home renovations.  Since starting Crossroad Custom Builders, Inc. in 2005, he has been responsible for the completion of over 1,000 construction projects.

Shawn’s previous experience in private sector engineering, architectural design and project management has proven valuable in the residential construction field, bringing expertise in structural, civil and geotechnical engineering, adding significant value to each project, providing sustainable builds.  Shawn’s experience in the engineering field afforded him expertise in footing and foundation design, timber frame, steel and concrete design, drainfield design, shrink swell soil analysis, footing bearing pressure analysis and construction management and scheduling. Shawn is passionate about customer service, client satisfaction and building quality homes. He has made a personal commitment to unmatched quality and service.  The testament to this commitment is the lasting relationships that result with our clients after their home or renovation project is complete.

Shawn is married to his wife Dawn, and they have 4 beautiful children together.  As a family they enjoy spending time serving God through their local church, just being outside in nature and especially enjoying time on the Chickahominy River.

Owner and Structural / Civil Engineer

Dawn is the secretary for Crossroad and is responsible for office accounting, problem solving site engineering requirements and any other daily business supporting roles. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University.

Dawn’s previous work experience as a practicing Civil Engineer for a local engineering, architectural and survey firm brings great value to Crossroad.  Her experience includes land development design and management such as site planning and site design, utility and road design, drainage studies and calculations, grading plans, earthwork calculations and erosion and sediment control plan development.  She has also prepared plans for local subdivision developments, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, and site plans for residential, commercial and industrial developments.  She has performed project and construction administration services, cost estimating and preparation of project specifications.

Dawn has been married to her husband Shawn since 1997.

Secretary / Civil Engineer

Tyler Lemon has been deeply involved with the industry since the start of Crossroad. In fall of 2021, he decided to focus his efforts towards the company and took on fulltime employment and has thoroughly enjoyed it. Most of his daily tasks include overseeing and managing multiple projects at a time, carpentry, and various other duties to ensure the job gets done. He also has the knowledge behind estimating projects and all aspects start to finish of everything Crossroad has to offer. Tyler pushes himself to learn more and more about the project management aspect of the building process and we are so thankful to have his knowledge as a part of our Crossroad family. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and being out on the river. Although his true home away from home is being in the garage and working on different projects from dirt bikes, to working on his own and even his friends trucks and vehicles.

Erin has been with the Crossroad family since January 2017 and she is the Office Manager, and Project Manager’s Assistant. She helps the project managers track expenses, schedules, accounting, running reports, working with each county for permitting, updating documents and any changes for our client’s projects.  She has strong skills in time management, communication, ability to work in tight deadlines and under pressure. 

She also has a passion for interior design. She loves to meet with our clients and assist in choosing their internal and external finish selections, and helping them stay within their budget while still achieving optimal results.  Erin has proven to be an integral part of our team and a great value to our clients.

Erin has been married since 2006 to her husband, Kris, and they have two children, Riley and Kole.  Her and her family love the Lord and spending time in His creation.  Their favorite place to be is together and at the beach out in the warm sunshine with their dogs, Kelso and Maverick.

Jeremiah joined the Crossroad family in January 2020 as a Project Manager handling new construction and renovation projects. 

Jeremiah enjoys all facets of new builds and renovations.  He is committed to providing a high level of customer service throughout the project, truly desiring to build not only their new home or new space but to also build lasting relationships. Jeremiah has over 23 years of experience in handling large projects, both commercial and residential.  He strives to not only meet, but exceed our customers’ expectations.  Over the last 23 years Jeremiah has both worked hands on and managed all facets of building new construction, additions and renovations. We are blessed to have him as part of our team.

Jeremiah has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for 26 years and has two children, Hannah and Jonah.  Jeremiah and his family moved to Toano, Virginia in 2015 and love to serve at Smith Memorial Baptist Church.

Kris joined the Crossroad family in May of 2021 as a Project Manager handling new construction and renovation projects. He now has the role as Crossroad’s Project Estimator where he is able to gain a thorough understanding of each project to determine the time, labor, materials, and product costs for the project.

Kris has over 15 years’ of experience in the construction industry, both residential and commercial. Kris enjoys performing hands on tasks and strives to expand his skill set in all aspects of the residential building process.  He is committed to providing exceptional customer service and satisfaction with quality workmanship and professionalism.

Kris has lived in Williamsburg most of his life where he married his wife, Erin, in 2006.  They have two children, Riley and Kole.  Kris loves to spend time outdoors with his wife, kids and his “dream dog”, Kelso, a 95lb German Shepherd and of course their chihuahua, Maverick.

Jason has been working for the team since September of 2021.  He is an asset to the company as a construction assistant and works hard to provide high quality results.  He assists our project managers in various duties like keeping job sites clean and safe, as well as providing hands-on work that is necessary for getting our jobs done efficiently.  Jason is trained in a multitude of equipment and machinery that is used on a daily basis to provide professional results for our clients, and often organizes supplies on our job sites.  Jason is dedicated to his job and has been a great addition to the team.

Steve joined us here at Crossroad in October of 2022 as a Project Manager. Steve brings a plethora of knowledge to our company with his broad range of experience. He moved to the Williamsburg area in 1994, and shortly after became a Construction Superintendent in 1996. His love and passion for all things construction continued to grow and in 2000 he accepted his first role with custom home building as a Project Manger. Steve obtained his Class A Contractors license in 2013 and really encompassed his expertise in new residential construction and remodeling of schools, churches, retail businesses, homes, etc. With over 27 years of experience, and his sedulous and ambitious attitude, our Crossroad family is grateful to have him on our team. 

Steve and his wife Nancy, have been married for 31 years and have two grown children, Sarah and Emma. His family has been attending Smith Memorial Baptist Church since 2010. In his spare time, Steve thoroughly enjoys working on jet skis, fishing and spending time out on the Chickahominy River.

Micah joined Crossroad in August of 2022 as a Construction Assistant. We are excited to have Micah on our team with his eagerness to learn. Micah authentically pushes himself to be the best he can be, always ready to soak in any new information about what our team is working on. He is extremely helpful and will do anything to get the job done. Micah enjoys working with others, and does it well. In his free time, Micah enjoys working and volunteering at the Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center.

Danielle has been with the Crossroad family since May 2023 and is quite an asset to the team bringing great organization to the company.  Danielle has extensive experience with customer service, handling finances, scheduling, and has great communication skills.  These unique qualities make her a strong provider to Crossroad. 

Danielle works mostly behind the scenes keeping track of Crossroads billing and invoicing, permits for new and current jobs, and manages our cleaning crew, making sure that the final product is professionally detail cleaned and is looking its best to present to our clients.  She also handles management our social media and keeping our website updated.

Danielle, her husband Logan, and their son Korbin, enjoy traveling and spending time with their very large extended family.   Danielle was raised in the Williamsburg area and aspires to have a large family herself.  In her free time, she really enjoys being outside and at the beach or on the water, serving alongside her husband at their home church, Smith Memorial Baptist Church, in AWANA and Upward basketball, and watching her little brother’s baseball games that her husband assists in coaching.

John joined Crossroad in May of 2023 as a Project Manager handling renovations and government projects. John enjoys getting his hands dirty and likes to see projects transform from beginning to end.  He believes strongly in customer service and follow through on projects he is working on. Before coming to Crossroad he ran his own Construction Company for almost 5 years.  John's passion is helping people. He likes to see the faces on his clients when a project has been completed.  He is always trying to anticipate and make suggestions to improve the current projects he is working on.  Before following his passion in the construction field John was a Software Engineer for 25 years.
John and his wife, Melissa have been married for 26 years. They have 3 sons and have been raising them in Williamsburg since 1998.  Before moving to Williamsburg, John grew up in Newport News and attended Christopher Newport University.  He continues to be an active part of his son's lives and currently volunteers as a coach for the Warhill Highschool Football Team.  He is a strong family man and you will find him outside of work with his most beautiful wife attending an event for one of his active sons.

Mike Venable joined the Crossroad family in September 2023 as a construction manager. Mike enjoys working on renovations, new construction and landscaping projects. He spent 33 years as a Contractor for the US government and brings his knowledge and experience of facilities to the Crossroad team. Mike was born and raised in the Williamsburg area. He enjoys watching football, basketball and ultimate fighting but loves to play golf. He and his wife Gina have been married for 31 years and have two adult children, Lindsey and Ashley.
